Jen Tompkins

Jen Tompkins is a captivating teacher whose two speaking superpowers are sarcasm and scripture. Her passion is to encourage women, especially moms, to find more joy and contentment in their many roles. As a local church pastor and mom of three, Jen uses her ministry training and the real-life shenanigans of her children to help moms connect their personal faith to their daily parenting.

A frequent keynote speaker at retreats and conferences around the Pacific Northwest, Jen's personable and humorous style allows the timeless truths of God's Word to become accessible to women in every season of life. Her unique voice allows women to feel distinctly known and understood.

Jen is married to a handsome pediatric physical therapist and mom of two teens and a pre-teen. Their youngest joined their family through adoption in 2012. Because of how their family was formed, Jen has a heart for adoption-related topics and considers herself a lifelong learner of all issues pertaining to adoption and foster care. She is passionate about supporting adoptive moms in their journeys. In 2013, Jen co-founded a non-profit ministry, Called to Love, which provides community and an annual retreat for foster and adoptive moms.

As a retreat team, it was very important to us that we had a godly speaker with a genuine passion for Jesus and women. Jen was extremely easy to work with. She walked us through a verse-by-verse study of the book of Philippians and spoke from her heart with honesty and transparency while sharing about the secret of being content and having joy in all circumstances. Her style was relatable and engaging, using just the right amount of humor. Our women enjoyed her so much that we invited her to speak at our next women’s retreat.
— Sheila Michelson, Greater Portland Bible Church
Jen came and spoke at our women’s retreat recently and I can not say enough about how incredible it was! She had a deep understanding of God’s word as she walked with us through the Scriptures she was funny, encouraging, and inspirational. Jen not only brought us truth through the Bible, but she was intentional about spending time with and getting to know the women who were there. Jen has an incredible gift of making people feel valued and important.
— Aimee VanderVeen, Women's Pastor at Edgewater Fellowship Church
I’ve had the joy of hearing Jen teach at multiple retreats and events, and have watched the longevity of her ministry to women over the years. The Jen I am honored to know in real life translates exactly as herself to her writing and speaking. Jen, in any form, is a gift. She has an incredible gift to go past the surface and right to the heart of a person. Each time I’ve heard her speak, Jen’s use of humor and sincerity is like my real life interactions with her—she plops herself down with warmth, sets aside pretense and gets to the heart of the matter. I trust her with my own vulnerability as well as with the open ears, minds, and hearts of the women I minister to and with.
